Artists will display creations from the Carmel on Canvas event as well as pieces from their broader scope of work. We want to thank the Carmel community for supporting each artist that participates in the Art Fair. On Saturday morning, a Quick Paint takes place at the Carmel Farmers Market at Carter Green.

Discover the many ways art can come to life in the galleries and locally-owned shops of the Carmel Arts & Design District. Traditional, contemporary, abstract – whatever style speaks to you. Venture along Main Street & Range Line Rd. to see the works of art and visit with established and emerging artists, whose creations you may want to take home. The culinary arts can also play a role in your unique experience as you dine alfresco along our city sidewalks. The Magdalena Gallery of Art displays both traditional and modern works, but the gallery’s primary focus is contemporary art.
Arts & Design District
It is home to interior designers, art galleries, showrooms, restaurants, antique stores and a variety of specialty retail shops. There are 4 divisions; professional, non-professional, teen and children. The Carmel Arts & Design District is one of two state-designated cultural districts in Hamilton County, located along Main Street in downtown Carmel. Beyond the Evan Lurie Gallery, there are a number of local art galleries located within walking distance, making it an art lovers paradise. Visit on the second Saturday of every month for a gallery walk through the district with special events.
If Thursdays are better nights, head to Clay Terrace Mall, for a Summer Concert Series on The Lawn, 7-9 p.m. Bring family and friends and also enjoy the shops and restaurants at this popular outdoor lifestyle mall. The Carmel International Arts Festival brings more than 40,000 avid art enthusiasts. 130+ juried artists bring their art that includes materials such as wood, fiber and oil. Jewelry, ceramics, sculptures, pottery pieces along with 2D and 3D are also present at the festival.
Gallery director Lurie is from New York and frequently travels to Europe. Throughout the redevelopment of this area, the City has used public private partnerships to encourage investment by the private sector in the area. The City identified the best areas for redevelopment, purchased and combined small lots and made them ready for development, and created a plan for the area so that the private sector could come in and begin work more easily. Only one work may be submitted for each of the painting events, the All Day Plein Air Paint Out and Quick Paint; plus each canvas must have the correct stamp.
Circle Contemporary Art Gallery
The winners of the adult and child categories will be selected by visitors to the market, which raises community awareness of the event overall. Whether it’s a free show at a local park or green space, or a patio show at one of their local restaurants, Carmel’s got you covered. CCA Gallery offers exceptional art as an artist owned co-operative gallery, the oldest of its kind in Indiana. Founded in 1978, and part of the Carmel Arts & Design District since 2014, we celebrate more than 40 years with over 35 award winning and emerging artists from Central Indiana; many of whom are recognized as Indiana Artisans. The Arts & Design District continues to grow and offer more and more amenities for residents and visitors. We hope you enjoy this area that has truly been transformed into one of Carmel’s most successful redevelopment projects.
This free event allows music lovers the chance to stroll along the streets of The District, stopping to listen to a variety of different bands booked for this day-long event. From road crews to restaurants, banks to breweries, Carmel local entertainment and tourism impacts nearly every local business each year. To show their commitment to identifying the Old Town area as the Arts & Design District, the City installed archways over the main entrances to the district. Eventually, flower baskets, flower boxes at windows, benches, out door sculptures and bump out curb dining complemented the experience in the district. Registration fees are valid until Thursday, September 14, 2023. Please note, the registration fees will increase starting Friday, September 15, 2023. Once the picture was completed and glazed, the district began working with the Street Department along with Merchants along Main.

The Carmel International Arts Festival is unique because the artists are encouraged to use their background and cultural influences within the art being displayed. It is the mission of the Carmel Arts Council to encourage and promote the arts for all ages through leadership, financial, and volunteer support in order to nourish a vibrant culture in the Carmel Community. The Children’s Art Gallery features artwork by kindergarten through 5th grade students, along with middle and high school art. Besides presenting a pleasant gallery environment where you can visit and enjoy the exhibited work with the guidance of the artist, several Art On Main artists also take commission work to meet custom taste and design needs for both home and business.
